Welcome Message from VC
 For anybody aspiring to study at the university, selecting what and where to study can be a tantalising task. This message is intended to assist you to make a good selection by telling you about the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), at Tarkwa, the programmes we offer, the facilities we have, and the gainful career opportunities that are open to our graduates.
UMaT has very capable staff most of whom have considerable industrial experience. The teaching and learning ability of our staff is strengthened by their active research and consultancy services. Our staff has special opportunities to obtain international experience by attending international conferences and paying academic visits to mining industries and universities around the world.
Tarkwa is located on one of the prominent gold belts of Ghana with a fascinating geological setting. It is a major mining town with several mining and related companies in and around it. This offers our students the opportunity to gain adequate practical experience in their various programmes of study.
Our strategic location, industrial environment, good academic facilities and capable staff combine to make UMaT an excellent place to study in all aspects of mining and related disciplines. No wonder, for over 25 years, we have been training graduates of proven ability .for the mining and related industries in Ghana and abroad.
In these times when we hear about graduate unemployment, I am pleased to be the Vice Chancellor of an institution whose graduates readily find employment. Certainly, I am motivated to invite you to join this special group of graduates with exciting career opportunities.
