The University of Mines and Technology, UMaT, Tarkwa has the pleasure to host its Biennial International Conference on Innovations in Mining and Mineral Processing in Tarkwa, Ghana from 1st to 4th August, 2012. The main theme for the conference is Expanding the Frontiers of Mining Technology.
Objectives and Activities
The conference is aimed at engineers, scientists, researchers, students, consultants, business executives and all those who are interested in mining, processing and the environment. The main conference objectives are to:
- Present new developments, exchange experiences and practices in mining and other engineering disciplines;
- Discuss environmental and sustainable development issues; and
- Evaluate the economic impact of the global credit crunch on mining and related services.
The conference will include the following activities:
- Pre-conference Metso Mining School;
- Technical sessions and workshops;
- Poster sessions;
- Technical visits & post congress excursions;
- Social programmes;
The conference will also provide:

The official language of the conference is English
Grants and Personal Invitation
The organizing committee will not directly provide any form of financial support. However, the committee hopes to offer limited support to scientists from developing countries when sponsoring bodies make funds available. Further details will be given in the second circular. The organizing committee will send a personal invitation to the conference upon request. However, the invitation is intended only to assist potential participants to raise travel funds and/or to obtain visas.
Proceedings
Accepted papers will be published in a book of abstracts and as a conference volume on a CD. Participants will receive these publications upon registration. Selected papers will be published in the Ghana Mining Journal. Abstracts should not exceed 200 words. |
