RESEARCH CONDUCTED

1998-2000: Air Quality Assessment in Tarkwa
This research investigated the direction and of wind-blown dust within the Tarkwa Municipality. It also determined the particulate amounts and chemical concentrations of pollutants in dust particulates.

2000-2007: Arsenic and Cyanide sequestration in a water bodies.
In this research arsenic sequestration and cyanide degradation in mine waters was studied in order to determine effective ways of containing them in tailings dams. Filters made from local materials were fabricated to remove arsenic from drinking waters. The research showed laterite iron concretions can be used to remove arsenic and cyanide from water.

2008 - Date: Acid Mine Drainage Issues in Gold Mine Waste Dumps
In this research acid mine drainage potentials in Mine Waste tailings dams and waste dumps are investigated to determine their future environmental consequence on water bodies. Various tests are conducted on rock and sediment samples to determine types and quantities of acid generating materials and suggest means of minimising their potential detrimental effects.

2011 - Date: Water Quality Assessment
In this research the quality of drinking water from wells, boreholes and sachet water produced and distributed in Ghana are investigated. The results showed that some of the sachet water sold in Tarkwa contains parasite and pathogens that are responsible for many water-borne diseases in the Municipality.
