Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for appointment to the following positions in the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa.

1. DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

Lecturer / Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor / Professor in Mechanical Engineering

2. DEPARTMENT OF RENEWABLE ENERGY ENGINEERING

Lecturer / Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor / Professor in Renewable Energy Engineering

 

3. DEPARTMENT OF TECHNICAL COMMUNICATION

Lecturer in English or Linguistics

 

Qualifications/Eligibility

A. Lecturers

  • Applicants for Lectureship appointment should possess a PhD with specialisation in the relevant discipline from a recognised University.
  • Lecturers from recognised Universities may also apply.
  • Research or industrial experience will be an added advantage.

B. Senior Lecturers

  • Applicants for the post of Senior Lecturers should hold a PhD with specialisation in the relevant discipline from a recognised University and should be or should have been Lecturers with at least four (4) years University teaching experience and a minimum of four (4) refereed journal publications arising out of research.
  • Senior Lecturers from recognised Universities may also apply.

C. Associate Professor

  • Applicants for the post of Associate Professors should be or should have been Senior Lecturers with at least eight (8) years University teaching experience and a minimum of ten (10) refereed journal publications arising out of research.
  • Associate Professors from recognised Universities may also apply.

D. Professor

  • Applicants for the post of Professors should be or should have been Associate Professors with at least twelve (12) years University teaching experience and a minimum of twenty (20) refereed journal publications arising out of research.
  • Professors from recognised Universities may also apply.

4. OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR

A.     Senior Assistant Registrar (Senior Legal Officer)

Qualifications/Eligibility

         An applicant seeking appointment as Senior Legal Officer must:

  • Possess an LLB degree and a BL qualification.
  • Have a Master’s Degree in Law.
  • Be registered by the Ghana Legal Council and in good standing.
  • Have six (6) years relevant post-qualification as a Barrister of Law in Industry or Public Service or four (4) years working experience as a Barrister of Law in a University or analogous institution.
  • Have at least four (4) journals/publications/position papers/memoranda/reports/legal opinion in his/her area of specialization.

 

B.     Assistant Registrar (Legal Officer)

Qualifications/Eligibility

An applicant seeking appointment as Legal Officer must:

  • Possess an LLB Degree and a BL qualification.
  • Have a Master’s Degree in Law.
  • Be registered by the Ghana Legal Council and in good standing.
  • Have two (2) years relevant working experience.
  • Have excellent writing and analytical skills.
  • Be proactive and self-motivated.
  • Have ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly.
  • Have good interpersonal skills.

 

C. Assistant Registrar (Business Development Manager)

The University is looking to develop its business engagement nationally, regionally and internationally through workforce development and skills training, knowledge exchange and transfer, research, innovation and development. The Business Development Manager will lead the University’s developments in third stream income generation through academic enterprise, research and knowledge exchange.

The Business Development Manager will also be responsible for identifying, developing and implementing new business opportunities. Such opportunities may include, but not limited to, educational programmes for workforce development in sectors relevant to the University; knowledge transfer and exchange partnerships; commissioned research projects; commercialisation of resources, equipment and/or knowledge capital.

Qualifications

  • A Master’s Degree or higher in Business Management, Marketing or related field with at least two (2) years post qualification experience.

Experience

  • Experience in developing and delivering business plans including financial planning and reporting.
  • Experience in identifying market opportunities and undertaking market insight evaluations to assure the feasibility and viability of identified opportunities.
  • Experience in developing new business opportunities through enterprise, commercial and/or knowledge exchanges.
  • Experience in building sustainable relationships with external groups, clients and companies and the ability to up-sell opportunities.
  • In-depth understanding of the higher education sector with reference to the need for Universities to diversify their activities and income streams.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Strong communication skills in all formats.
  • The ability to develop sustainable networks and productive relationships with external clients that result in new business for the University.
  • The ability to influence and deliver through others.
  • Knowledge of business development, identification of and tendering for funding opportunities that align to the aspiration/vision of the University.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work as a team member.

 

  • Ability to work within deadlines.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for the University through understanding of external business needs and the requirements of sectors relevant to the University.

 

5. DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTENANCE UNIT

A. Quantity Surveyor

Qualifications/Eligibility

  • Candidates should hold a Master’s Degree in Building Technology / Civil Engineering or related fields with at least two (2) years post qualification experience.

AND

  • Must be a member of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS).

B. Architect

Qualifications/Eligibility

  • Candidates must hold a Master’s Degree in Architecture with at least two (2) years post qualification experience.

AND

  • Must be a member of the Ghana Institute of Architects (GIA) and Architects Registration Council (ARC).

C. Facilities Manager

Qualifications/Eligibility

  • Candidates must hold a Master’s Degree in Facilities Management or related fields with at least two (2) years post qualification experience.

AND

  • Must be a member of a professional body.

Salary and fringe benefits

Conditions of service are as applicable in Government Subvented Universities of Ghana.
