A ladies’ summit for all student ladies of the University of Mines and Technology has been held on the theme “The Unstoppable Woman: The God-fearing and Daring Woman”. The summit, which is the 6th in the series, was organised with the aim of bringing all the student ladies in the University to give them words of encouragement and to help them to be unstoppable women as they study in a male dominated field. This year’s summit was addressed by Lady Rev Anita Akosua Asare, the wife of Rev Anyani Asare, the Head Pastor of the Tarkwa Branch of the Victory Bible Church International.

Lady Rev Anita Akosua Asare, thanked the University for having faith in her and inviting her to speak at the function. She advised the young ladies to believe in their dreams and not to let anything to stop them from achieving their purpose of coming to study in UMaT.

In her exhortation, she emphasised on the importance of the Fear of God and said the fear of God was gradually eluding Christendom and therefore there was the need for the ladies to go back to the fear of God. Elaborating more on the daring woman, she said there were a lot of women who were daring but lacked the fear of God.

She further told the ladies that a daring woman takes charge of things, shakes things up, and is courageous, determined and a forceful woman. According to her to take charge meant to be responsible and that a woman is one who has a lion’s heart (Prov. 28:1). A daring woman had an eagle’s eyes (Isaiah 40:31). A daring woman has a hind’s feet (2Sam. 22:34 and Psalm 18:33). She further said that a daring woman should be Independent, kind, smart, skillful, bold and dare to execute her plans. She drew her message from the account of Jael in Judges 4:17 - 24 to make her point.

Rev Anita also gave some of the challenges of a daring woman and said a daring woman had the challenge of womanhood, rejection, criticism and sacrifice. She concluded by inspiring the ladies to always dare to be bold, authentic, caring, be game changers, add value to themselves and also to be innovative.

The Chairperson for the event, Assoc Prof Grace Ofori-Srapong, the Dean of the Faculty of Mineral Resource Technology, advised the ladies to ensure that they plan their day by putting down a to-do-list everyday which should be written in their diaries in order not to forget what to do in a day so as not to be irresponsible. She also encouraged them not to allow the challenges they went through to let them down, lose their focus and aims in life.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. J. S. Y. Kuma also added that they are capable of doing anything they want to do. Therefore, they should make use of the lecturers around them as well as good Christian Counsellors and Pastors to direct them in order for them to achieve their God-given goals and attain their full potentials.
