Mr Jonathan Sakoe
The Council of the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa, at its 75th (Special) Meeting held on Friday, 14th August, 2020 and upon the acceptance of the report of the Search Committee for the Appointment of Finance Officer for the University, appointed Mr Jonathan Sakoe as the Finance Officer of the University for a four-year term with effect from Tuesday, 1st September, 2020 to 31st July, 2024. Until his appointment, Mr Sakoe was the Acting Finance Officer of the University. He has thus become the third substantive Finance Officer to be appointed by this University.
Mr Jonathan Sakoe holds a Master of Business Administration, Finance option from Wisconsin International University College and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Cape Coast. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICA). He has over 16 years’ experience in University Financial Administration. His areas of interest include Risk Management, Microfinance, Auditing and Control Systems and Financial Reporting.
Prior to joining the University of Mines and Technology, in May 2010, Mr Sakoe worked with the University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale as a Junior Assistant Accountant for 6 years between April 2004 and January 2010.
By dint of hard work Mr Sakoe rose through the ranks from Junior Assistant Accountant in UDS to a Senior Accountant and Acting Finance Officer in UMaT and now the newly appointed Finance Officer of the University.
He has served on various Boards and Committees both at UDS and at UMaT. He has also served on a number of Audit Committees of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana. He is a member of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA).
He is married with four children, three daughters and a son.
