Medeama Sc Presents the GPL Trophy to UMaT

The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) received a delegation from the 2022/2023 Ghana Premier League Champions, Medeama Sporting Club during which the team presented the prestigious GPL trophy to UMaT as one of the major stakeholders who played a significant role in supporting Medeama throughout their victorious journey. The Vice Chancellor, Prof Richard K. Amankwah, Pro Vice Chancellor, members of Management and some other senior officers of the University warmly welcomed the Mauve and Yellows to the University.

Prof Amankwah expressed immense joy and satisfaction over the club's achievements, highlighting the cordial relations that exist between the two brands, and looked forward to many years of fruitful collaborations.

The Vice Chancellor particularly commended the President of Medeama, Mr Moses Armah, and the team for the outstanding performance, especially in the match where they humiliated Hearts of Oak with an impressive 5:1 score line and ending the Western Region's 47-year drought of a GPL trophy.

The University Management pledged their unceasing support to the Team in the upcoming season and the Champions League campaign.

The trophy presentation was led by Joseph Tetteh Zutah, Acting CEO/Administrative Manager of Medeama, accompanied by Head Coach Evans Adotey, Assistant Coach Nana Amankwah, members of the Communication Team, and Kits Officer Nathaniel Tsibuah.

It was noteworthy that Medeama had utilized the University’s Sport Centre as one of their training grounds for the past two seasons and as a gesture of appreciation, the club had given back to the University by providing essential equipment such as jerseys, footballs, and soccer nets.

The team expressed its appreciation and gratitude to the University and reassured to give their very best into the next level of championships. They also gave their word to uphold the good name of Tarkwa and all stakeholders who have given their support in various ways.
