Research Interest

His research areas are in resource recovery and waste to energy technologies and research work done include:
The development of the first reported demonstration biochar reactors used in Ghana to be stationed in the ten regions of Ghana under a Government of Ghana contract
The development of a step feed anaerobic fermentation of foodwaste model.
Isolation of indigenous enzymes for the hydrolysis of fruit waste,’
Bioethanol and biodiesel production
Conversion of faecal sludge to biodiesel (FS2BD), a Bill and Melinda Gates sponsored research.

Engr Dr Ato Fanyin – Martin holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering, a Master of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering all from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana.
Ato also has a Certificate in Lab Safety, Chemical Hygiene and Hazardous Waste Management from Columbia University, New York where he spent one year as a Research Scholar at the Kartik Chandran Lab at the Department of Earth and Environmental Engineering.
Ato lectures in the Department of Chemical and Petrochemical Engineering of the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa where he currently serves as the Training Officer of the Department.
He has participated in and facilitated several local, national, and international research conferences.
He is a Licensed Engineer with the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Ghana (IET, Gh).
