Call for Application for Erasmus + Programme

The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa-Ghana in partnership with the Technical University of Mining and Technology (TU BAF), Freiberg - Germany is inviting a female PhD Student from UMaT to apply for a six (6) months fully funded research programme on the topic Rehabilitation of Degraded Mining Environments for Sustainable Development at the Technical University of Mining and Technology in Freiberg - Germany for the 2024 summer semester (1st April 2025 to 30th September 2025).

The successful applicant must submit the following documents:

  1. Motivation letter
  2. Curriculum Vitae with list of publications
  3. PhD admission letter
  4. Masters degree certificate and transcript (marks)
  5. Research proposal (3-5 page) based on the topic provided (including Problem Description, Objectives, Methodology, Value addition to the State of the art, Expected outcomes)

The following evaluation criteria shall apply

Personal Criteria

  • Female
  • Fluent in the English language
  • Be a registered or prospective PhD student at the partner university
  • Quality of motivation letter and CV, including description of former research experience/publication list
  • Applications from mothers, part-time workers, and Students with impairments are very well encouraged.

Scientific Criteria

  • Quality of Master of Science degree, University grades (Masters)
  • Quality of Research Proposal
  • Fit the topic to Rehabilitation of Degraded Mining Environments for Sustainable Development

Applicable Timelines

  • Call advertisement opened from 15.06.2024
  • Virtual information sessions 25.07.2024 and 08.08.2024
  • End of application: 15.08.2024
  • Interviews and selections dates will be communicated to shortlisted applicants.

Notification
Interested applicants are obliged to return to UMaT to continue with their doctoral studies. Successful trainees are obliged to share their gained knowledge and skills with their university community and relevant stakeholders upon return. Additionally, the successful candidate must take part actively in the Erasmus reporting. Applications should be submitted to the UMaT Project Coordinator (see contacts below). No application fee or financial obligations are ever required during this application and selection process. Please note that only qualified applicants shall be contacted for interviews. Also, only selected applicants shall be contacted for further engagement in the next stages of the enrolment process.
