Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS) Pays Courtesy Call on Management of the University


The University received a delegation from the Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS) on Tuesday, 22nd July 2025 as part of efforts to deepen collaboration between the two institutions

Professor Grace Ofori Sarpong-Akuffo, the Pro Vice Chancellor, who represented the Vice Chancellor, warmly welcomed the delegation and commended GhIS for its long-standing contribution to professional development in the field of surveying and allied disciplines.

Leader of the GhIS delegation, the President, Mr Kofi Obeng Ayirebi, expressed his profound appreciation to the University for its continuous support to staff members who belong to the professional body. He acknowledged the University’s role in facilitating the payment of membership subscriptions and conference fees for staff, which has enabled them to fully participate in professional activities. He stated that the visit was also to enable the newly elected executives of GhIS to formally acquaint themselves with the University’s Management.

Mr Ayirebi further lauded the University for its commitment to advancing engineering education and research, stressing that the University’s investment in training future professionals complements the mission of GhIS. He highlighted that the Ghana Institution of Surveyors is a recognized international body mandated to regulate surveying practice and issue professional certifications. In addition, he underscored the role of the institution in providing Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programmes to ensure that members remain up to date with global best practices and emerging trends in the field.

Professor Ofori Sarpong-Akuffo expressed gratitude to the delegation for the visit and reaffirmed the University’s readiness to strengthen ties with the professional body. She assured that Management remains committed to implementing the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions, which will open new avenues for collaboration in research, training, and professional development.

Mr Ayirebi, was accompanied by Mr Emmanuel Kofi Cobbold, Senior Vice President of GhIS, and Mrs Beatrice Akpene Kom, Honorary Secretary of the institution and other members of the Institution.
