AngloGold Ashanti Donates Surveying Instruments to the Department of Geomatic Engineering

A delegation from AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine (AGA) led by Mr Daniel Arthur-Bentum, has donated modern surveying instruments to the Department of Geomatic Engineering at the University of Mines and Technology. The presentation took place on Tuesday, 12th August 2025, in the University’s Council Chamber.

Mr. Daniel Arthur-Bentum, Acting Community Relations Manager of AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine, said the donation reflects AGA’s commitment to advancing society and empowering people. He also emphasised that bridging the gap between industry and academia remains one of the Company’s top priorities.

“This donation will give students valuable hands-on experience and prepare them adequately for the world of work,” Mr. Arthur-Bentum noted. He further revealed AGA’s plans to offer internship opportunities to UMaT students from Obuasi and the possibility of extending scholarships to support their education.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Richard Kwasi Amankwah, expressed deep appreciation to AGA for the gesture, describing it as both timely and forward-looking. He stressed that UMaT has produced many of the leading professionals in the mining industry and highlighted that such partnerships are essential for aligning academic training with industry needs.
